Bittersweet disaster.
I’m a sucker for a love story.
I wrote and deleted 3 separate posts to go along with this story and in the end they were all too personal, too emotional, too revealing (oh the irony). But here’s what they all boiled down to; sometimes love isn’t enough. And that’s okay. You can love someone dearly and still let them go. And still appreciate everything they brought to your life. And still wish them well. And the ending doesn’t have to taint the value of your time together. It was time. Together.
Marina Abramovic meets Ulay (Click to see the video.)
“Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again. at her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing it and this is what happened.”
They like to remind you that -
I still exist in your head.”
